Label-free sensors are emerging as promising techniques in for example diagnostics and environmental control. They have the potential to be very small, simple and cheap as they do not require time-consuming labeling by i.e fluorescent markers and bulky read-out units. However, it is sometimes complicated to understand the limitations and possibilities of the individual technologies both in terms of realization and applications.

We will in this course get an introduction to several label free sensors such as cantilevers, nano-resonator, nano-wires and miniaturized electrochemical devices. Also we will let the sensors compete against each other in order to discover their strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Come and join us in this challenging endeavor!
